Stephen “Wiseguy” Scuttlebug, MBA is an invertebrate scientist isolated from his kind in the heart of The Maw.

His species, often assumed to be a myth among the commoners of The Cut, are treated with shock, mistrust and often disgust by the uneducated masses.

His father’s influence as a prestigious scholar of the material sciences has largely shielded Stephen from the abuses of the theocrats, bringing him a life of luxury rarely tasted in The Maw

The weight of these accomplishments can be a heavy burden to bear as the prodigal son, especially in such a cloistered, theocratic environment. Stephen is an accomplished biochemist all his own, having published some groundbreaking field work - much of which goes against the grain of The Church.
